WHO CAN APPLY (ELIGIBILITY)
BushED is an organisation seeking to reduce the challenge of distance, and bring resources, opportunities, skilled volunteers and support to rural and remote children and their families.
As a family in these rural, remote, and isolated regions of Australia, we’d like to acknowledge the challenges and offer you, our support.
Who can apply? (ELIGIBILITY)
Funds are available to students who reside in rural, remote, and isolated areas of Australia. Families with school age children, living and working on stations or in small isolated, rural, remote, and isolated towns or remote islands to qualify for financial assistance.
(This includes contractors with families, working in rural, remote, and isolated areas who have to work away from home.)
Your residential address must be confirmed and must fit the location criteria. Please refer to the map of remoteness below. Locations are categorised as remote or very remote are eligible. Outer regional locations may be considered in some circumstances, relative to access of services.

Families MUST be registered with BushED with one or more students from Prep – Year 12, attending a SoDE/SoTA or other relevant educational providers, can access up to $300 per year/per family to assist in reducing educational needs.
Families must be Australian Citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
What will the funding cover?
Funding can be used for a diverse range of activities including specific projects that relate to a rural, remote, or isolated child/students’ educational needs. Funding covers the following items.
- Travel costs
- Education and skill building
- Technology
- School room items
- Laptops
- Travelling to music lessons or tutoring fees
- Travelling to sport camps, purchase of sporting equipment or tutoring
- Travelling to medical appointments
- Assistance for travel cost of volunteer tutor to travel to station or outback community help out in schoolroom.
- Travel cost to boarding school
- Boarding school fee’s
Applications for financial assistance are open all year round.
